Guild Business
Secretary (Mary Lou): Nothing exciting, updating some forms.
Treasurer (Laurie B): Laurie will be our sole Treasurer for the remainder of the year. She is getting her name on our accounts. Thank you Sonia for your help over the past year.
Events and Programming (Raya)
- Raya put together a Calendar of Events for the year. She gave us a handout of current items. She will update it as needed. Amanda will post it on our website.
- Charity Quilting Bee. Our first charity quilt Sewing Bee at the ArtHub will be held Saturday, April 25th from 12 to 5 PM. Quilt pieces will be cut out and ready to sew. Bring your sewing machine if you want to stay the whole time. There are a few sewing machines there if you can just stop by for a short time.
- May Meeting Activity. For our next meeting we will have a fabric swap to make mini-quilts. If you would like to participate, please bring a scrap of fabric (no larger than a fat quarter). You will select a scrap from another participant and will make a 12” square quilt using that scrap and bring it to the June meeting.
- Our Nashua Public Library Quilt Show. Raya passed around an updated handout for the show. Every member can submit one or two quilts. The deadline for photo submissions has been extended to May 11th. Amanda will send another email with the link to upload photos.
- A fabric ice dying workshop will be held at the end of June. A sign-up sheet will be coming soon. The cost for participants will be $50 for members, $60 for guests.
- Raya passed around a sign-up sheet asking for volunteers to help her with various programming tasks. If you’d like to help with an occasional project, just contact her. Thank you!
Communications (Amanda)
- The microphone/speaker system is working well.
- Amanda will be putting together an electronic check-in system for meetings. This will save a lot of time manually entering meeting attendance (which is required by the MQG).
Community Outreach (Robin)
- Robin thanked everyone for donating so many baby quilts (over 50!) for the upcoming United Way Baby Shower. Thank you!
Retreats (Ophelia)
- Ophelia reported that there are currently 5 spots open for our next retreat, May 28-31, 2026, at The Fireside Inn in Portland, Maine. She handed out detailed fabric and cutting sheet for the Mystery Quilt most of the retreat participants will be sewing on Saturday.
MEETING ACTIVITY:
Our meeting activity was a presentation by Christa Nee, a Physical Therapist and Yoga Teacher, about keeping our bodies healthy while we sew. She spoke about good posture and body mechanics. She brought examples of good (and poor) tools to keep our hand and finger joints healthy for us to try out. She led us in some soothing stretches.
