June 11, 2026 General Membership Meeting Recap

The meeting was led by Stephanie, our 2026 Co-President.

There were 28 members in attendance, and one guest.

Thank you to members who brought food and helped monitor the door and welcome table.

Raffle Winners

  • Ellen was lucky tonight! She won the door prize, a tiny 2 ½” square ruler by Creative Grids, plus the raffle for the Timeless Treasures batik layer cake.
  • Mary Lou won the raffle for the 24” x 36” cutting mat by Creative Grids.

Guild Business

Secretary (Mary Lou): Nothing new.

Events and Programming (Helen – Raya could not make this meeting)

  • MQG Challenge Quilt. Members who wanted to participate picked up fabric and instructions for our Improv HSTs themed quilt. Please make your blocks no later than the August meeting.
  • July Meeting Activity. For our next meeting we will have our Summer Ice Cream Social. It will be at the Church. If it’s a nice day, bring folding chairs so we can sit outside.
  • Our fabric ice dying workshop will be held Saturday, June 28th, from 1 – 4 PM at Stephanie’s house. The cost for participants will be $60 for members, $75 for guests. This fee covers all our expenses, and allocates 4 yards of fabric for each participant. We have only received a small number of sign-ups. We are opening it to another guild.

Communications (Amanda):

  • For the sign-in spreadsheet, Amanda added spots for us to add our birthday month and year we joined the Guild. We want to celebrate as many events as possible!
  • We have a new resource page on our website. Please send us your favorite quilt-related shops, online stores, tutorials, etc., so we can build a great list of vetted resources for us to use.

Treasurer (Laurie B): Everything moving along.

Retreats (Sarah)

  • The May retreat at The Fireside Inn in Portland, Maine, went very well. Several members already completed their mystery quilts and showed them tonight (see below). We will going back there next Spring.
  • We are also going back to the St. Methodios Center for our Fall retreat. Dates are Thursday, Nov. 5th through Sunday Nov. 8th. Sarah is finalizing costs and we will send out details soon. There will be slight increases over last year’s prices. We will start sign-ups and collecting checks at the next meeting. Depending on the numbers of members attending the full retreat, we may be able to offer day visitor options.

Hospitality (Sarah for Lesley)

  • Sarah passed around a sign-up sheet for members to volunteer to bring snacks for the remainder of the year.

MEETING ACTIVITY:

Members who made mini quilts from the mystery fabric given last month showed their work.
