December Show and Tell

December was our Christmas exchange and party.  Lots of good food and comraderie.

Betsy showed us this cheerful Christmas quilt using a large panel!  She was able to focus on practicing her quilting skills.

Carolanne made this fancy dress for our Christmas party to meet a challenge!

Carolanne also showed us a quilt and pillowcase she made for her niece, using two butterfly squares that were "messed up."

Quilt has six butterflies to allow her niece to grown into it -- wonderful quilt!

Michelle showed us a beautiful quilt will be bound and gifted for a person who supports her family.

Michelle's two color challenge quilt, using value and color, was not accepted for Quiltcon but is wonderful!

Michelle had two quilts accepted to QuiltCon 2019 in Nashville, one of which we have seen at earlier meetings.  She showed us the other, which was accepted in the small quilt category, to recognize her wonderful son with a bonus 21st chromosome.

Suzie showed us potholders ...

And Suzie did this pieced quilt for her day-care boy.  Really fun!

Chelsea showed us a massive half-square triangle that will be a gift.  She quilted it on her domestic machine.  Wonderful colors!

Sarah completed a Christmas tree skirt square in a square format -- really cute! And she told us about her dog's love for chewing quilts!

Susan displayed a jewel colored quilt -- very pretty!

Ophelia did an argyle Krista Moser design.   Very optical and geometric.  She also did a Christmas colored quilt that should hopefully be good year around.

Laurie showed us nautically colored quilt.  She has owned the pattern for over twenty years! Made four blocks with the really cute boats on the back.

This quilt top has an applique mermaid on jelly roll piecing, which needs to be quilted and sent off! Beautiful!  Great color gradation.

In this quilt Laurie uses a yellow brick road pattern, very easy.

Laurie's last quilt is going to a family with a son entering the Navy Seals.  Beautiful colors using the Tennessee Waltz pattern.

Sandy shows off her latest finish.  This was all made several years ago, but finally took on the challenge of binding the irregular border!

That's it!  Great meeting with a lot of good food and gift exchange!

November Show & Tell

Members came to the November meeting with a wide variety of interesting work.

Alison showed a wonderful Gloria Loughman class project.  See www.glorialoughman.com for more about this quilt artist focused on architecture and landscape.

Alison also completed two Christmas tree skirts! Number One...

And here is Number Two with same pattern from Shabby Fabrics.

Finally, Alison reported that she abandoned completing the full Gypsy Wife quilt but couldn't throw the squares she had done away.  This is the charming result!

Sarah quilted a four year old quilt top.  She hand sewed the binding, and quilted each block in a different pattern.  Quite stunning!

Sarah also showed a Christmas quilt made at retreat. Background is Kona silver.

Trish started this dramatic quilt years ago with a high contrast fabric selection made out of 72 blocks - each block is actually the same but with different color usage.  A lot of work, and gorgeous!

This is the back using an Allison Glass border print.

Pat showed us some placemats with paper-pieced flying geese-- very cute.

Your photographer failed to get the maker of this gorgeous bright colored quilt!

Kim showed us the back and front of her latest finish.  Great colors!

René and Annique hold up a mini landscape completed at a workshop.  Beautiful.

René completed four grandkids' quilts.  She practiced her machine quilting on these.  Quite a colorful collection!

Suzie finished very cute pumpkin quilt!

And, Suzie also showed us this intensely fun chenille giraffe quilt.  She used a layered technique.  Very soft and good for a playmat. She suggests using all natural basting spray.

Gail showed her completed Mighty Lucky quilt top using improv piecing direction from five different designers.  This year long challenge also helped participants work on color choice and design.
