Bridges Charity

Last weekend a group of us braved the snow and headed to the Bridges "Love is in the Air" charity gala. Our beautiful quilt went at auction for $1,000. Wow! Bridges is a local charity that helps rehabilitate woman and children who are victims of domestic abuse. The $1,000 can help to fund a support group for 10 sexually abused children and their caregivers for 10 weeks. It can also educate 180 students at an area school about teen dating violence. We are so happy our quilt had gone for so much and to a great cause.

**  Fabric was donated by Hawthorne Threads **
We are very grateful for this generous donation and to all the quilters in the guild who helped.

We used the X and + Tutorial at Badskirt, found here.

Rene, Beth, Patty, Lisa, Simone, Chelsea, Susie, Nancy, and Annick

We had a great night of eating, dancing, and fierce bidding wars. It was such a lovely night, thousands of dollars were raised and every one had a great time. Anyone want to take a guess at who was the craziest dancer?

Many thanks to Beth for allowing us to accompany her at her table and being apart of something so great! I think her jaw dropped when the paddle went up for the quilt bid :) Then she started breathing again.

Launching our Modern HST Quilt Along

A couple years back Knit n' Lit  hosted this same quilt along. She designed the 72 blocks to finish at 8 inches square, all made from 2 inch half square triangles. If you also plan to use this size, you will need 5 yards of colored fabric, and 5 yards of background fabric. The diagram shows the blocks two-toned but the options are endless!

Trish demonstrated different methods in mass producing half square triangles and showing how to use the Block Loc ruler. If you missed the demonstration or forgot, no worries, linked is a video tutorial!

Below is the link to the reference sheet handed out at the meeting with patterns and pictures of each method.

Who's with us? If all 72 blocks are too much of a commitment, scale up and make a smaller quilt.  We would love to have you quilt along!
