New Hampshire Modern Quilt Guild
August 13, 2026 General Membership Meeting Recap
The meeting was led by Helen.
There were 40 members and one guest in attendance. Welcome to our two new members, Lorrie M and Kristen B!
Thank you to members who helped monitor the door and welcome table and brought delicious snacks.
Raffle Winners
- Pat J won the door prize, a batik fat quarter.
- Marie won the raffle for the Hang It Dang It system.
- Mary Lou won the raffle for the Artisan Batiks jelly roll.
Guild Business
Secret Quilt Buddies Project. Chelsea asked participants who have not yet started their quilts to talk to her or Susie about whether they can still complete the project by November. She also reminded participants that they should have delivered three gifts to their buddies by now.
Secretary (Mary Lou). Nothing new to worry about.
Treasurer (Laurie B) Everything is moving along smoothly.
Events and Programming (Raya)
- Library Quilt Show. Raya collected quilts for the show. Volunteers will hang the quilts on Sunday, August 16th, from 1 – 4 PM.
Our reception at the Library will be Saturday, August 29th, from 11 AM to 1 PM. Hope to see you (and your family and friends) there!
- Second fabric ice dying workshop. Raya handed out a flyer with information on the second workshop, which will be held September 19th (rain date September 26th). An email with the same information was also sent out. Talk to Raya and/or scan the QR code or email link to sign up. We need participant totals by August 20th to insure we will have enough supplies for the event.
- MQG Challenge Quilt. We handed out some additional fabric packets. Deadline for handing in blocks is the September meeting.
Communications (Amanda)
- Membership. We have two new members (who attended today!) and eight people on the waitlist.
Community Outreach (Carol) Nothing new to report
Retreats (Sarah)
- Fall Retreat. Sarah handed out additional information sheets with pricing information about the fall retreat. The same information was sent out in an email. We are going back to the St. Methodios Center. Dates are Thursday, Nov. 5th through Sunday Nov. 8th. The retreat will start at 11 AM on Thursday. So far, 15 people have signed up. We have budgeted for 25 people. Guests are welcome. We need final totals for the retreat by October 15th. We may be able to offer day options (primarily for members who live nearby) if space allows.
Hospitality (Lesley)
- Lesley reported that we are all set for volunteers for the remainder of the year.
MEETING ACTIVITY:
We had three sets of focus groups (about 5 members each) discussing quilting- and guild-related topics. Board members facilitated and took notes, which we will use to plan activities for upcoming meetings.
