June 2022 Meeting Recap and Show and Tell

We had a great meeting last night. Over 30 members attended. We had a few new people show, so that was also great!

Our binding tutorials were a huge success. There was a lot of information given so hopefully good notes were taken. Feel free to reach out to anyone of us for any questions. We can't wait to see some of these techniques used in the future!!

How next meeting's theme will be Holidays in July. We are asking that you bring your favorite notion. We will also be doing a mug rug swap. We ask that you bring a mug rug to exchange and one to be donated to an organization. (ex...Hospice, Nursing home) Total of 2.

  • What is a mug rug:

A mug rug is a combination of a coaster and a placemat that is large enough to hold a cup and a snack.

  • How big is a mug rug:

Mug rugs are typically any size between a 4 x 7 and a 12 x 8.

This is a good way to use unused blocks up, using scraps, trying new techniques, and maybe even trying a little free motion quilting.

We sent a clip board around about doing a postcard swap with another modern quilt guild that reached out to us. It looks like there is enough interest to go through with this so, I will reach back out to them and get details. There guild is based in upstate NY.  (CDMQG)  Details to follow.

Also they have invited us to a zoom lecture for any of those interested.

CDMQG would like to share an opportunity for your guild members to join us for the Timna Tarr lecture on June 14th at 7:00 PM. Please share with your members and any other quilters who might be interested.  Thanks so much!       https://www.capitaldistrictmqg.com/shop
