A Special Quilt for a Special Lady

 

Earlier this month, two dozen NHMQG members ventured to Cape Cod for our annual fall quilt retreat. As usual, the event was a huge success … We retreat goers chipped away at our WIPs. We ate nice meals. We took walks along the beach. And we bought more than our fair share of fabric at local quilt shops. : )

 

The place where we both sewed and stayed was the Lighthouse Inn in Dennis, MA. For many of us, a highlight of the weekend was presenting Judith, the person at the inn who organizes these retreats for us, with a quilt. It was our way of thanking her for seeing to our every need during these weekends away and for making these trips such memorable experiences (so much that we keep coming back year after year!).

What many of us did not know until we presented Judith with this gift is that this is her last season at the inn. We wish her all the best as she makes this move!

This project is Ahoy Sailor by Suzy Quilts and features fabric from Bonnie and Camille’s Daysail collection as well as selections from Loved to Pieces by Mathew Boudreax and Sirena by Jessica Swift. Many thanks to Michelle, Tiffany, René, and Ellen for their contributions in piecing, quilting, and completing this project. And a special thanks to Betsy for coordinating the trip on behalf of the guild.

Spring 2017 Retreat

We will hold our next retreat in Kennebunk at the Franciscan Guest House on March 23-26, 2017.

Registration is closed. Email Patty (pamagaw [at] comcast [dot] net) to see whether we can add more people to the event. 

You can stay for 2 or 3 nights and single or double rooms are available. Pricing is:

Single Room:

3 nights - $335

2 nights - $230

Double Room:

3 nights - $220

2 nights - $150

If you plan to stay in a double room, please let Patty know who your roommate is at time of signup.

The retreat costs includes your room, breakfast each day, pizza on Saturday night and a 6 foot long table for sewing. Side trips will be planned to visit Marden's and get doughnuts!

We had a great time on this retreat in 2016!  The sewing was great and the tacos and margaritas at Pedro's were pretty awesome too!

2016 Fall Retreat

It's time to sign up for the fall retreat!

We've found a wonderful inn on the beach in West Dennis, Cape Cod, called the Lighthouse Inn. It is ocean front and our sewing room looks out over the water! Check it out!

Retreat will take place October 6-9, and you can stay for 2 or 3 nights.

The retreat costs includes hot breakfast and use of all the facilities.

We'll be staying in the Gate House and the Lodge. Each house has 6 bedrooms with private bathrooms and small refrigerators. There are 2 smaller cottages if we need them. 

Sewing is in the Main House. The sewing room will have ironing boards and irons, and each sewist will have her own table!

2-night single: $315.00

3-night double: $220.00
2-night double: $165.00
