Guild Business
Secretary (Mary Lou) Nothing new to report.
Treasurer (Marie/Sonia)
- No financial issues to report. Our bank balance is currently around $7900.
Communications (Amanda and Lorri)
- Some members missed the email on Wednesday evening about our plan to move tonight’s meeting indoor because of poor weather. Please check your email for our notice with the subject: “LOCATION UPDATE: NHMQG Ice Cream Social July 10, 2025,” and let us know if you did NOT receive it, so we can check your email address. (Guild email address is at the end of this recap.)
Events and Programming (Laurie K, and Susan H)
- Nearly all the blocks for the Kona’s Color of Year Community Outreach quilt have been completed. Laurie is waiting for a couple more – next month is the last month to turn them in. Stephanie offered to donate batting for the quilt, and Jeannie offered to do the quilting. Thanks to everyone participating!
- The August meeting will feature a 2.5”x WOF strip swap. To participate, cut up some fabric or bring unused Jelly Roll strips. Members will select strips from what we collect for use in their own projects. It will be fun to see what members make with them!
- The September meeting will include a presentation on sewing machine maintenance, by the owners of Quilt Perfect.
Retreats (Shelly)
- Our Fall retreat will be November 13-16th at the St. Methodios center in Contoocook, NH. Shelly and Ophelia will be determining prices and get the information out soon. We will start collecting checks soon, probably starting next month.
Guild Day Outings. Helen has organized another outing to the New England Quilt Museum to see a new exhibition of Japanese quilts. It will be on Saturday, August 2nd at the museum at 10:45 AM. Helen send out the details from the Guild email on July 21st.
MEETING ACTIVITY
This meeting’s activity was our annual Ice Cream Social. As noted above, we moved the meeting indoors because of the rain and damp weather. Thanks to Programming for providing such a wonderful feast!
SHOW AND TELL
Quilt Shop Happenings. A couple more quilt shops are closing. Brenda reported that the Quilted Crow in Bolton is closing on November 15th, and Robin reported that the Victorian Cupboard in Salem is closing as well (no date on their website).
Brenda also reported some good news: Amy Friend, posting at During Quiet Time, is just opening a new Studio and Gallery in West Newbury, MA.
- Patty M showed us two quilts. First, her Little Forest Quilt, from the Modern Skill Builder Quilt Pattern by Shannon Frazer Designs.
- She also showed us her Inside Out Start quilt, pattern by Then Came June. She was working out this quilt at our last retreat. She used a TCJ kit with delicate “Champagne” fabrics.
- Chelsea showed us two quilts. First, a quilt she made with blocks from a swap a couple years ago.
- Then a Sawtooth Star quilt with Ruby Star Society fabrics.
- Susie has been busy and showed us 5 quilts. First, her blue and white Fireworks quilt, pattern by Camille Roskelly of Thimble Blossoms.
- Then, Petal Power by Kristina Brinkerhoff. The pattern is found in Love Patchwork & Quilting - Issue 71.
- Then, a quilt she made the blocks from one of our block swaps.
- A pink on-point quilt, a Take 5 quilt, by Kathy Brown.
- A Disappearing Pinwheels Arrows quilt, from a pattern and tutorial by Missouri Star Quilting Company.
- And finally, her oldest WIP, from 2013, In the Garden QAL by Janeen van Niekerk, finally completed. A foundation paper pieced quilt.
- Jeannie showed us her quilt made from a wolf picture panel.
- Raya showed us two large quilt blocks that she framed on artist’s canvas. One is a “Block Study” from a Tara Faughnam class, and the other from an EPP class she took at QuiltCon a couple years ago.
- Pat J showed us her blue Swoon 24 quilt, pattern by Camille Roskelly of Thimble Blossoms.
- Beth L showed us her Flower Garden applique quilt by Kim McClean. She had worked on this quilt for 4 years!
Please note that when we were adding links to raffle prizes and quilt patterns and books, we tried to link them directly to the pattern or book designers’ webpages, but sometimes we couldn’t find the original sources and put links to popular online commerce sites that carry these products. We are not endorsing any particular commerce sites – most items can be found from multiple sources.
Please post quilts, questions, and any other quilt-related information on our private member FaceBook group. To join, click here.
