April 2023 Meeting and Raffle

March meeting and raffle

January Meeting and Raffle

August 2018 Meeting Reminder

Our August meeting will take place on Tuesday August 21st at 7pm!! Doors open at 6:30 if you would like to come early for some pre-meeting sew-cializing!

Programming: Our programming this month will have two parts. We'll be swapping our zipper pouches and sharing them with the group and we'll also be sharing our favorite tools and notions!

September Meeting: Our September meeting will have a guest speaker! Maureen Blanchard of Cobblestone Quilts will share her lecture, "Beauty or Beast", which explores how to take "beast" fabrics and make "beauty" quilts.

2019 Workshops: We are moving forward with trying to secure a weekend with Rebecca Bryan for fall 2019. Take a look at her website and Instagram and start getting excited!

Jo Diggs Workshop: We'll be hosting Jo Diggs for a workshop on November 10th at Quilted Threads! The workshop is now open via PayPal on our events page or you can give cash or a check to Beth. Pricing is $65 for members and $75 for non-members.

Giveaways and Raffles: Our giveaway item this month is a going to help you get ready for Halloween! It's the Patchabilities Stack o' Jack-o-Lanterns!

June 2018 Meeting Reminder

Our June meeting will take place on Tuesday June 19th at 7pm!! Doors open at 6:30 if you would like to come early for some pre-meeting sew-cializing!

Programming: For our programming this month we'll be interviewing our partners for the zipper pouch swap. If your partner is unavailable or you are not participating we'll have a webinar/tutorial from the Mother Guild to share.


Spring WIP Challenge: Your items must be completed by our June meeting and if they are you'll be entered to win! Be sure to mention if a show and tell item is a WIP.

Shop Hops: We are still looking for shop hop leaders. Please see Alison if you are interested. For every shop that you visit with the guild you will receive a stamp/sticker in your Shop Hop passport that enters you for a fabric store gift card in September! The more shops you hop to, the more chances to win. If you attended the June 12th Shop Hop, please see Carolanne to get your stickers.

July Meeting: Our July meeting will take place at the club house at Pat's Condo. Her address will be shared via email. A potluck sign-up sheet will make it's way around at the June meeting.

2019 Workshops: We're working with the Seacoast and Cambridge guilds to try and do more combined workshops in 2019! Please let someone on the board know which of the following teachers you would prefer: Amanda Jean Nyberg, Lizzy House, Krista FleckensteinGiuseppe Ribaudo, AKA Giucy Giuce, or Angela Walters. You can leave a comment here, on Facebook, send an email or there will be a sheet at the check-in table on Tuesday night!


Fall Retreat: Our fall retreat will take place at the Lighthouse Inn in West Dennis Columbus Day weekend, October 5th-October 7th! Sign-ups will be available at our June meeting and then will open via PayPal on June 20th. Pricing is:
3-night single: $427
2-night single: $320
3-night double: $224
2-night double: $170

Jo Diggs Workshop: We'll be hosting Jo Diggs for a workshop on November 10th at Quilted Threads! The workshop will open for registration at our July meeting and will open online on July 18th. If you'd like to take the class and won't be at the July meeting, please talk to Alison and we can get you signed up early! Pricing will be: $65 for members and $75 for non-members.

The Quilt Patch: The Quilt Patch is Bedford closed last year, but they are reopening for about a week to try and clear out the rest of their stock. They will be taking cash payments only in their final days. The deals are pretty great! All 44" inch cotton fabric is $4.00 per yard, Wide Backs are $7.00 per yard, All Patterns 50% off, All Books 50% off, All Thread & Notions 50% Off, All Packaged Panels $2.50 each, Batting 50% off, Pre-packaged Kits 50% off, Fat Quarters Will No Longer be Cut. They will be open on the following days and times:

May 2018 Meeting Reminder

Our May meeting will take place on Tuesday May 15th at 7pm!!

Programming: For our programming this month we'll be playing a game! There will be prizes :)

Zipper Pouch Swap: We will be postponing the interviews of our zipper pouch swap partners until the June meeting so everyone has a chance to signup.

February 2018 Meeting Reminder

Our February meeting will take place on Tuesday February 20th at 7pm!!

Doors open at 6:30 if you would like to come early for some pre-meeting sew-cializing!

Yard Sale: At our meeting we'll be hosting our second annual yard saleAll proceeds will be donated to the Guild to benefit Programs! You can get rid of your quilting cottons and flannel yardage, scraps of material in ziploc bags, (consider making themed bags-colors, styles of fabric, etc.), magazines that are five years old or newer, quilting and general sewing books, patterns and notions.  We ask that you price the notions yourself, the cashiers will price out everything else at checkout.

Spring Retreat: Registration for Spring Retreat is now open. You can register online here or pay by check at the February meeting. After the March meeting we will review room bookings; if rooms are available members will have the opportunity to invite non-member guests. If you are interested in inviting a non-member guest please let Alison know.

Giveaways and Raffles: Our giveaway item this month is an adorable sewing basket that comes with two patterns. 


* Raffle #1: Will be the new book, Modern Quilts: Designs of the new Century. This book was recently published by C&T Publishing and is a collection of quilts that were curated by the Modern Quilt Guild.
* Raffle #2: Four Fat Quarters and the Sea Star quilt pattern that was generously donated to our guild by Meadow Mist Designs. 

Upcoming Programming: We are planning an evening of binding for March so if you have a special trick or method that you'd like to share with the group please let Carolanne know.

January 2018 Meeting Reminder

Our January meeting will take place on Tuesday January 16th at 7pm!!

Spring Retreat: Registration for Spring Retreat will be opening in early February. Stay tuned for additional details!

Membership Survey:  Our programming on Tuesday night will be breaking into small groups and conducting a survey. The survey will be made available online as well for those who can not attend on Tuesday night. Please come prepared with ideas that you think would make our guild better!

December 2017 Meeting Reminder

Our December meeting will take place on Tuesday December 12th at 7pm!!

Charity: Thank you to everyone who returned a packet for our Quilt Con challenge quilt, we are still missing a few so please bring them in December. Alison is hosting a sew-in on 12/13 where we will work on some tops for Vegas and finish piecing the QuiltCon top. Please email her for additional information.

Sewing Bee: Would you like to sign up for the 2018 sewing bees? Please see Ellen on Tuesday night!

Membership: If you renew your membership by the end of our December meeting you'll be entered into a drawing for a gift card to quilted threads. You can renew online here, or in person with cash or a check.

2018 Volunteer Positions: We will be holding our vote for 2018 board positions at the December meeting. We are still seeking help with meeting programming. If you are interested in volunteering in any way, please let a board member know.

Holiday Party: We'll be having our annual holiday party at the December 12th meeting. To participate in the gift swap, please bring a quilting-related gift. November 2017 Meeting Reminder

Our November meeting will take place on Tuesday November 14th at 7pm!!

Charity: Thank you to everyone who picked up a packet for our Quilt Con challenge quilt. Please give your finished blocks to Ellen D. at the meeting on Tuesday. Carolanne will be starting to piece them on Sunday at the bee!

Sewing Bee: Our next sewing bee is Sunday the 19th. If you would like to attend please let Ellen know. Ellen will also be collecting sign-ups for the 2018 bees at our meeting on Tuesday night.

2018 Volunteer Positions: We are still seeking people to serve the guild as a VP of meeting programming, hospitality chair, and charity co-chair. Please refer to the attached list of position descriptions and consider helping the guild. We won't be able to sustain our level of activity in 2018 without volunteers!

Trunk Show With Amy Friend: Amy Friend will be joining us at our November meeting for a trunk show! In addition to the trunk show Amy will be bringing patterns, books, thread and fabric to vend. She accepts check, cash and cards.

December Holiday Party: We'll be having our annual holiday party at the December 12th meeting. To participate in the gift swap, please bring a quilting-related gift. October 2017 Meeting Reminder

Our October meeting will take place on Tuesday October 24th at 7pm! 

Charity:
Our Cutting Garden quilt has been given to the church and is being raffled this weekend! Our next charity project is the QuiltCon 2018 quilt. Packets of fabric will be passed out at out October meeting for anyone interested in participating and the group will be meeting about the quilt at 6:30.

June 2017 Meeting Reminder

Our June meeting will take place on Tuesday the 20th!

June is going to be a busy month!
Pixie Baskets: It's time to swap our Pixie Baskets!! If you haven't started yet you can find the directions here. If you won't have a chance to finish just let your partner know and decide on an alternative time to swap.
WIPs: You can still signup for our WIP contest at the June meeting. Please see Nancy Tatro.

QuiltCon 2018 Challenge: Carolanne will be sharing the parameters for the 2018 QuiltCon challenge quilt and we'll be discussing how to best work as a group to design this project.

Crazy For Hexagons! Programming this month will be all about Hexagons. We'll have three different stations setup to show different ways to create these 6 sided quilting staples.


Fall 2017 Retreat: Registration for the fall retreat on Cape Cod will open online at 8 p.m. on Sunday, June 25th. More details will be shared at the meeting on Tuesday and posted online next week.

March 2017 Meeting Reminder

Our March meeting will take place on Tuesday, March 21st. There are quite a few fun activities planned my quilty friends!

The Pixie Basket Swap: 

This is a social swap, with the goal of getting to know one more person in our amazing guild!  If you would like to participate, I'll be passing the signup sheet at Tuesday night's meeting.  You'll be paired up with someone and in April will search them out at the meeting, spend a little time getting to know them and then make a Pixie Basket for them and fill it with goodies totaling no more than ten dollars.  The baskets will be exchanged at the May meeting.  If you want to be involved, but won't be at the March meeting, just send Nancy an email at finelydonequilting@comcast.net.



Show & Tell, First and Last:

It's all about show and tell this month!  Please bring in one of your first quilts you ever made and one (or more!) of your last quilts made!  Be ready to share the story of how you got started quilting.  What/who was your inspiration? How long ago was that?  Were you always a "modern" quilter? Or when did you notice your tastes changing?  We're really looking forward to the quilts and stories!

Charity Quilt:
Our charity committee has decided on the pattern for our next charity quilt that will be donated to the First Baptist Church and they will be passing out fabric packets this month. They would like the blocks back at our May meeting.

  • Alison has a survey about an upcoming event that she will be passing around on Tuesday night.
  • Mark your date books quilters, Latifah Saafir is joining us on November 4th, 2017!
  • Speaking of saving the date, Anna Marie Horner will be here for a workshop in April 2018. We're partnering with other guilds to bring this renowned quilter to the area and are excited to share more information. 
  • The First Baptist church is hosting a yard sale on April 1, and they have invited us to donate items and to come to the event! You can find more information on their website here.

January 2017 Meeting Reminder

Our first meeting of 2017 will take place on Tuesday the 17th!

Our new board has a lot of exciting news to share and fun activities are planned.


Yard Sale: It's a New Year!  Is one of your resolutions to clean out your sewing room?  You are so lucky, 'cause the NHMQG is having a Yard Sale at our January meeting!!  All proceeds will be donated to the Guild to benefit Programs!


Spring Retreat: Retreat signups will be held! Your room will be secured by full payment. Patty will be accepting checks, made out to NHMQG. If you can't make it to the meeting please contact Patty by January 20th. Additional retreat details can be found here

December Meeting Reminder

Our December meeting and holiday party will take place on December 13th.

Voting for the 2017 board was sent out via email and results will be announced at the December meeting. We will also be voting on a proposed amendment change to our by-laws regarding membership. You can find the details here.

We will be having a non-traditional Yankee Swap as part of the Holiday Festivities! The game rules will be shared before we get started and you won't be disappointed. Please be sure your gift items are modern and cost no more than $20. We posted some great swap item ideas on the blog last year if you need inspiration!



Get your WIPs finished, we'll be drawing the winner of the Quilted Threads gift certificate for all finished WIPs at this months' meeting!

Be sure to renew your membership by the December meeting so you will be entered to win a Hawthorn Threads gift certificate!

At this month's meeting, we'll be giving away Shimmer, a pattern in five sizes by Cluck Cluck Sew.
