Recognition For Controlled Chaos

We are so incredibly excited to announce that our quilt, Controlled Chaos, took home a blue ribbon at MQX! Our quilt won in the Quilts Among Friends category. Guild member Lisa entered the quilt and very generously donated the prize to our Charity Quilt Fund. Five hundred fifty dollars will go a long way toward future quilts to benefit our community!

You can view all of the MQX winners here.

Controlled Chaos was originally created as part of the 2016 QuiltCon challenge and will soon be donated to a local charity. Our charity committee, Marie and Susie, did a great job with their vision for this quilt. You can read more about the construction of this quilt on our website or on the Modern Quilt Guild page where Controlled Chaos was recently featured.

April Meeting Reminder

We're at the Franciscan House in Maine for retreat this weekend, but our April meeting is coming up fast! We hope to see you on April 19th at 7pm. Here are some of the items we were will covering.

MISCELLANEOUS FUN:

The Boston Modern Quilt Guild is hosting a quilt show at Fabric Place Basement through April 30th. The show is only staffed on the weekends, but you can go to see it Monday-Friday as well. This is a great excuse to see some beautiful quilts and do some fabric shopping.

NHMQG's first bee was a huge success. This bee was geared to members wishing to learn more about paper piecing. Michelle was our fearless leader taking the charge! We got together for a few hours on a Sunday afternoon for some sewing and snacks. For those experiencing quilting envy, we are planning more bees this year!

If you signed up to participate in a fabric swap those groups will be meeting beginning in April to swap their fabric. We're excited to see what everyone brings!

We are incredibly excited to announce that our quilt, Controlled Chaos, took home a blue ribbon at MXQ. More information about the recognition of this quilt will be coming soon to our blog!

AMY GARRO:
We are so excited to be hosting Amy Garro in June. Cost for the event is $100/person and includes lunch. (Participants are also required to own a copy of Paper Pieced Modern. We will be placing an order for books in the spring.) If you plan on attending please bring your check to our April meeting.

T-SHIRTS:
If you ordered a NHMQG t-shirt they are being handed out at our April meeting!

RAFFLES:

We have three half-yards of Handcrafted Indigo from Alison Glass and four half-yards of Modern Background from Zen Chic. These beautiful fabrics could be yours, all for the cost of a few raffle tickets!

Our giveaway item this month is a great pattern from Meadow Mist Designs. What fabric would you use for this quilt?

March Show N' Tell

Despite the crazy weather here in NH, Spring is almost here! The bright colors of some of our member projects from March certainly show that we're dreaming of Spring and sunshine!
We are working on a few charity quilts right now and here are the blocks made for them!

Super cute projects from Ellen!

We love the pop of yellow on Betsy's' monochromatic quilt.

This quilt from Betsy is so bright and happy!

We can't wait to see how Mary Jean's blocks come together

Lovely work from our co-VP Michelle.

This tree made by Christine looks awesome!

We love this quilt from Simone. It reminds us of "April Showers"

'

Simone, Marie, Susie, René, Patty, Lisa, Ellen and Annick all created self portraits. Don't they look fabulous!

Beautiful blushing pink quilt made by Marie!

Kathleen's quilt is so mesmerizing!

Her fancy forest pillow is so adorable as well!

Betty was on fire with 3 projects to show! They are all awesome!

Another bright share from Beth!

We saw quite a few quilts with yellow in them this month and Renee's looks great.

Lisa's rainbow mini makes us long for more warm days.

Another great share from Lisa!

Don't forget to come back later in April to see what we've been up to! Our spring retreat is next weekend so a big group of members will have 4 dedicated days to work on projects in a lovely setting. Not a member, but want to show us what you've been working on? Pay a visit to our next meeting as a guest!

Paper Piecing Bee

A new form of quilting fun has started.

The crew in action! Smiles all around.

A quilting miracle also happened.

Chelsea had a large stack of HSTs that needed trimming. While people waited for a machine, these beauties got squared up. Over 200 HSTs! Ah, teamwork is amazing.

Betsy brought her new add-a-quarter-inch ruler to try out. At the end of day we had all purchased both the 6-inch and 12-inch ruler. It was a hit.

The day ended with a bounty of beautiful Dutch Windmill blocks. The navy and random solids are going to look stunning in a finished quilt. Everyone was very proud of their accomplishments; they all look amazing. The color combinations are stunning. Rosa even contributed her paw of approval.
