2022 Yard Sale

Q: Do members set the price?
A: Members will price any notion they are donating, all other items are as listed above.

Q: Do the proceeds go to the guild? Or to the members?
A: The yard sale is to raise money for the guild to use for programing, swag, outside events, guest speakers, etc. This is how we can provide great programming thought the year to our members.

Q: What happens to things that do not sell?
A: The guild will take what we can to use for future programing and charity.  The remainder will be donated (unless you want to take it back).

A Special Quilt for a Special Lady

Earlier this month, two dozen NHMQG members ventured to Cape Cod for our annual fall quilt retreat. As usual, the event was a huge success … We retreat goers chipped away at our WIPs. We ate nice meals. We took walks along the beach. And we bought more than our fair share of fabric at local quilt shops. : )

The place where we both sewed and stayed was the Lighthouse Inn in Dennis, MA. For many of us, a highlight of the weekend was presenting Judith, the person at the inn who organizes these retreats for us, with a quilt. It was our way of thanking her for seeing to our every need during these weekends away and for making these trips such memorable experiences (so much that we keep coming back year after year!).

What many of us did not know until we presented Judith with this gift is that this is her last season at the inn. We wish her all the best as she makes this move!

This project is Ahoy Sailor by Suzy Quilts and features fabric from Bonnie and Camille’s Daysail collection as well as selections from Loved to Pieces by Mathew Boudreax and Sirena by Jessica Swift. Many thanks to Michelle, Tiffany, RenĂ©, and Ellen for their contributions in piecing, quilting, and completing this project. And a special thanks to Betsy for coordinating the trip on behalf of the guild.

Registration Open for the 2018 Sewing Bees

The NHMQG sewing bees are continuing in 2018!

These daylong events are held at the Peabody Mill Environmental Center (PMEC), located at the end of Brook Road in Amherst, NH. They are a great opportunity to catch up on sewing projects, prep for retreats, and spend time with your guild mates.

The bees will be on the third Sunday of alternating months:
  • January 21, 2018
  • March 18, 2018
  • May 20, 2018
  • July 15, 2018
  • September 16, 2018
  • November 18, 2018
To cover the cost, we need to have at least 10 people willing to commit to the six sessions. This will require an upfront payment of $60 for the year. If we are able to sign up more than 10, then the costs will decrease for everyone. The PMEC can hold a maximum of 17 people, so hopefully, there will be a few slots available for people who cannot commit to the full year to join us for an individual session.

Guild members hard at work at a past bee

To sign up for the 2018 sewing bees, contact Ellen at edutile (at) comcast (dot) net. The $60 payment is due at the November 14th meeting. There will be a signup sheet at that meeting as well.

If you would like to check out the sewing bee setup, you are welcome to drop by our next bee on November 19th and have a look.

We are looking forward to another great year of sewing bees!
