September 2026 Meeting & Raffles

Hello Quilters!

The September NHMGQ meeting will be held Thursday September 10th, at 7 PM. Doors open at 6:30 for socializing.

 We will gather at:
     The First Church
     1 Concord St
     Nashua, NH

Meeting Programming:
Fabric Scrap Card Making Technique presentation with Marty Livesay.

August 2026 Meeting Recap

 New Hampshire Modern Quilt Guild

August 13, 2026 General Membership Meeting Recap


The meeting was led by Helen.


There were 40 members and one guest in attendance. Welcome to our two new members, Lorrie M and Kristen B!


Thank you to members who helped monitor the door and welcome table and brought delicious snacks.


Raffle Winners

  • Pat J won the door prize, a batik fat quarter.
  • Marie won the raffle for the Hang It Dang It system.
  • Mary Lou won the raffle for the Artisan Batiks jelly roll.


Guild Business

Secret Quilt Buddies Project. Chelsea asked participants who have not yet started their quilts to talk to her or Susie about whether they can still complete the project by November. She also reminded participants that they should have delivered three gifts to their buddies by now.

Secretary (Mary Lou). Nothing new to worry about.

Treasurer (Laurie B)  Everything is moving along smoothly.

Events and Programming (Raya)

  • Library Quilt Show. Raya collected quilts for the show. Volunteers will hang the quilts on Sunday, August 16th, from 1 – 4 PM. 

Our reception at the Library will be Saturday, August 29th, from 11 AM to 1 PM. Hope to see you (and your family and friends) there!

  • Second fabric ice dying workshop. Raya handed out a flyer with information on the second workshop, which will be held September 19th (rain date September 26th). An email with the same information was also sent out. Talk to Raya and/or scan the QR code or email link to sign up. We need participant totals by August 20th to insure we will have enough supplies for the event.
  • MQG Challenge Quilt.  We handed out some additional fabric packets. Deadline for handing in blocks is the September meeting.  

Communications (Amanda)

  • Membership. We have two new members (who attended today!) and eight people on the waitlist.


Community Outreach (Carol) Nothing new to report

Retreats (Sarah)

  • Fall Retreat. Sarah handed out additional information sheets with pricing information about the fall retreat. The same information was sent out in an email. We are going back to the St. Methodios Center. Dates are Thursday, Nov. 5th through Sunday Nov. 8th.  The retreat will start at 11 AM on Thursday. So far, 15 people have signed up. We have budgeted for 25 people. Guests are welcome. We need final totals for the retreat by October 15th. We may be able to offer day options (primarily for members who live nearby) if space allows.

Hospitality (Lesley)

  • Lesley reported that we are all set for volunteers for the remainder of the year.

MEETING ACTIVITY: 

We had three sets of focus groups (about 5 members each) discussing quilting- and guild-related topics. Board members facilitated and took notes, which we will use to plan activities for upcoming meetings.

August 2026 Meeting and Raffles

This month's programming will be a Get to know your Quilty friends mixer.

Reminders:
  • Nashua Public Library Exhibit: If you have signed up to show your quilts, please bring your quilts, with sleeves, to this meeting.
    • Note- if you have any dowels handy, please bring them, we are gathering them for hanging up the quilts.
  • Community Quilt Blocks: Please bring your blocks in no later than the September meeting. 
  • Fall Retreat. Sarah handed out information sheets with pricing information about the fall retreat. This included the same info sent out in an email. We are going back to the St. Methodios Center. Dates are Thursday, Nov. 5th through Sunday Nov. 8th. If you are planning to attend, please click the link in the email or scan the QR code on the handout or below, and fill out the online form indicating your room option and number of days you will be attending. Guild Business

Secretary (Mary Lou) - Nothing new to worry about.

Events and Programming (Raya)

  • Library Quilt Show. Thanks to members who have offered to show their quilts this August. Check for an email with a link to an online form you can fill out with details about your quilt. We will print information cards and hang with each quilt.  We will collect quilts at the August meeting. Raya will send out an email with details on adding a hanging sleeve to your quilts. We will hang the quilts on August 16th, from 1-4 PM. 

Details on a reception at the Library will be sent soon. We will return quilts at the September meeting.

  • Our fabric ice dying workshop was a success. Members who participated showed their fabric samples. We have enough dye to hold another workshop. We will order more fabric, and set another date for late August or September.
  • MQG Challenge Quilt. A couple members completed their blocks.  Additional fabric packets are available. Deadline for handing in blocks is the September meeting.  
  • Quilting Bee quilts. Raya asked for and received offers to finish two quilts from the event.
  • The Scrap Club will not be meeting in August.

Communications (Amanda)

  • Check out our new resource page on our website. Please send us your favorite quilt-related shops, online stores, tutorials, etc., so we can continue to build a great list of vetted resources for us to use.
  • Member Directory. Amanda read the list of names from whom we photos for the directory.

  • Carol reported that a quilt made by Lesley was given to the Merrimack Hospice House, who used it as a raffle quilt and raised $400 for the House.

President’s Announcements

  • Helen passed around handouts with our 2025 Profit and Loss Statement and 2026 Budget.
  • 2027 Board. We are looking ahead to the end of year elections for our Board of Directors. Helen described the requirements and rewards of serving on the Board. Members of the Board described their duties. Helen and Mary Lou will be stepping down, so we will have Co-President and Secretary spots open. Amanda and Raya would love to have help with Communications and Programming. Our “Board Interest” Survey will be going out in an email soon. 

MEETING ACTIVITY: 

This meeting was our annual Ice Cream Social! Yummy!

Announcements


Tracy is selling her Bernina Q16 sit down longarm quilting machine for $6000. She will include lots of rulers and accessories.


Michelle C’s Jelly Roll book is now in its third printing! Recently she appeared on the Quilt Show with Alex Anderson and Ricky Tims. She is also teaching at the next Creative Spark online workshop on July 16th.
